Leonardo Igloria is a pioneering force in Cebuano fashion with a legacy built on integrity and a deep love for his hometown.

His career began in 1980 as one of six emerging designers in the Search for Outstanding Designers for the Visayas. He had already built a loyal clientele from his work as an illustrator and visual merchandiser.

In 1984, with just P5,000, he opened his own shop. His background in architecture proved vital, allowing him to transform the space into a presentable studio and attracting his existing clients.

His reputation was cemented in 1988 after a show that established his name. Despite being invited to work in Manila, Igloria chose to establish his business in Cebu, a decision that underscored his commitment to his roots. He later declined international job opportunities, prioritizing the life and business he had built.

Beyond his acclaimed wedding gown designs, Igloria’s greatest legacy is his role as a mentor. He generously shared his knowledge with aspiring designers like Cary Santiago. He also takes immense pride in providing a livelihood for his employees, sharing the touching story of a seamstress who was able to send her nine children to school because of his business.

Igloria’s design philosophy, influenced by his architectural background, emphasizes balance, proportion, and a keen eye for color. His work is guided by strong ethics, focused on honesty and a deep sense of responsibility to his craft and his people.
